NEWCOMPLIANCE AND RADBOUD-UMC RECEIVE EU FUNDING TO ENHANCE SMART PATIENT SAFETY CHECKS
The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) has awarded € 600,000 to academic hospital RadboudUMC and companies NewCompliance, Demcon and Encapson. The subsidy from ERDF enables the companies to test their products faster and more effectively, in the Radboud UMC’s MITeC (Medical Innovation and Technology expert Center) operating rooms.
“Companies can not easily test new products in hospitals,” says Jeroen Meijerink, professor of innovative surgery at Radboudumc. “It is increasingly necessary however that products must first demonstrate to be safe and effective. The sooner a company knows, the better. With this subsidy, we can effectively guide and facilitate the development of new OR products – from concept to the final product. ” Meijerink: “ In the OR, data often comes from different systems and are not linked to each other. NewCompliance combines these information sources smartly, so that they can be viewed and acted upon, at a glance on a single screen display. With the funding and with NewCompliance, we want to develop smarter safety checks that are specifically tailored to each individual patient. Now, the same checklist is still used for all procedures.”
